Before the surgery can start Ronja must be put in to a deep sleep. Gunilla is an anaesthetic nurse and she and the anaesthetist Ulf are responsible for Ronja sleeping deeply during the entire operation. Gunilla sticks three so-called EKG-electrodes on Ronja’s chest and connects them to a computer. The electrodes shall monitor that Ronja’s heart functions as it should. Ronja also gets a clamp on the finger that measures how much oxygen there is in the blood. “ Quiet everyone, it is time to put Ronja to sleep, says Gunilla. Now you’ll be given a medicine so that you will go to sleep very quickly, Ronja. Sleep well!” After just fifteen seconds Ronja is asleep and will not feel anything at all of the operation.
