One hour later it is time. Ronja has to take the lift down to the operating room. She is still in her bed. “I have had pain in the knee since the time I fell over three years ago and hit my knee on the edge of the curb. The doctor has been unable to find out what is wrong. Some time ago they did an X-ray on my knee and it was then decided that I should have surgery.” Before Ronja is rolled into the operating room she is moved onto to a surgical bed. The surgical bed is narrow and this is important as the orthopaedic surgeon David is able to get really close to the knee. Everyone involved in the operation must put on special gowns, caps and face masks in order to keep away dust and bacteria.
